Our Methodology
What We Do
YAN is an AI-powered consumer intelligence platform. We cross-reference regulatory databases, peer-reviewed scientific literature, and publicly observable product information to map information gaps in consumer products.
We do not conduct laboratory testing. We do not make allegations against individual companies. We analyse publicly available information against established standards and published research.
How We Do It
Our analysis is produced using artificial intelligence systems that cross-reference data at a scale human analysts cannot achieve. Our AI pipeline applies multiple independent quality gates, source verification, and blind adversarial verification to every report before release.
The methodology, quality standards, and publication criteria are defined by human decision-makers. Every report is verified through multiple independent AI review stages before release.
The Four Layer Structure
Every Insight Report is built on a four-layer analytical framework:
Layer 1 — Standard
What regulations, industry standards, and official guidance require.
Layer 2 — Evidence
What peer-reviewed scientific research demonstrates.
Layer 3 — Shelf
What product labels, marketing materials, and claims say.
Layer 4 — Gap
Where divergence between layers creates an information gap.
Path Forward
What properties a product would need to close the gap. This is not a product recommendation.
Verification Process
Every report undergoes a multi-stage verification process before publication:
- Source Verification: All claims are traced to primary sources — regulatory texts, peer-reviewed papers, and official guidance documents.
- Multi-Stage Quality Gates: Independent quality checks are applied at each stage of report production.
- Blind Adversarial Verification: An independent AI review challenges the report's conclusions without access to the original reasoning chain.
- Editorial Review: Final quality review ensures accuracy, fairness, and clarity before publication.
Intellectual Honesty
Our methodology can produce "no gap found" results. Where a product aligns with regulatory requirements and scientific evidence, we report that finding.
We acknowledge uncertainty where it exists and distinguish between clear gaps and areas of ambiguity. Our reports reflect the strength of the evidence, not a predetermined conclusion.
Corrections and Response Process
We maintain a standing invitation for corrections and additional context. If you believe any aspect of our analysis is inaccurate or incomplete, please contact us at [email protected].
Our response timelines:
- Acknowledgement: Within 7 working days of receipt.
- Simple Corrections: Resolved within 14 working days.
- Complex Disputes: Resolved within 30 working days.
Where corrections are made, a correction note is appended to the relevant report with the date and nature of the correction.
Standing Invitation
Organisations referenced in our analysis are welcome to provide additional context, corrections, or counter-evidence at any time. Contact [email protected].
Legal Methodology Statement
Our reports analyse regulatory frameworks, scientific evidence, and publicly observable product information to identify information gaps. Where companies or products are referenced, they appear as representative examples of systemic patterns — not as subjects of allegation. Our analysis examines what standards and regulations require, not whether any individual company has acted wrongfully.
Editorial Independence
Reports are produced independently of product recommendations. Our reports identify gaps. Our marketplace sources products that close those gaps. These are separate processes with independent editorial oversight.
